JEFFREY A. FISHBEIN, PSY.D. , P.C.

For over twenty 20 years, Dr. Fishbein has worked as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a nationally recognized sport/performance psychology consultant. He is a partner in the clinical practice of Drs. Gault, Fishbein, & Associates and founder of Fishbein & Associates Performance Consulting.

Dr. Fishbein treats older children, adolescents, and adults. Using a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive/behavioral approaches, Dr. Fishbein’s style is very effective in minimizing symptoms and/or resolving more substantive life issues.

Clinically, Dr. Fishbein’s main interests are in working with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of problems. A typical patient may be an adolescent experiencing difficulties with his/her social, academic, or emotional functioning; or an adult struggling with transition issues, career uncertainty, and/or relationship difficulties. Dr. Fishbein also helps many professionals deal with stress, pressure, and expectations related to their performance in the occupational realm.

Philosophically, Dr. Fishbein sees the problems individuals present with as manifestations of greater issues to be assessed, evaluated, and treated. He views individuals holistically, looking at the whole person rather than just the symptoms with which they present. His work with older children, adolescents, and adults provides him with the opportunity to work with those he is passionate about helping. He views his clients as those who have stories that need to be understood, rather than those who present with problems to be fixed. His empathic, engaging, and interactive approach has been extremely effective in his years of clinical practice. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Fishbein is a nationally recognized Sport Psychologist who works with athletes across the continuum. In 2010, Dr. Fishbein was hired as the Sport Psychologist for the Chicago White Sox and continues in that role today. From 2000-2002, Dr. Fishbein worked for the Montreal Expos and over the next decade, Dr. Fishbein worked in the same capacity for the Florida Marlins where he was instrumental in creating the culture leading to the 2003 World Series championship team.

At Northwestern, Dr. Fishbein worked with the university's athletes in all twenty sports in order to improve their performance and functioning both as students as well as athletes.

For over two decades athletes of all ages have sought out Dr. Fishbein’s expertise, from kids in middle school hoping to make their house league teams to professionals being awarded the highest accolade available to them. Dr. Fishbein’s passion for working with athletes is evident to his clients regardless of their age or level of sport mastery.
